This year’s Heeley Festival brought more than 5000 together, stretching from the Heeley boulder to the farm, for craft, food, music, stalls, performance and rides. Plenty of festival goers also had a guided tour of Sum Studios, many of them ex-pupils with happy school day memories, who all commented on the transformation and how good it is to see the old building loved and lived in again.
The festival continues to show how strong the community is in this area. “I’m relatively new to the area but I have been struck by the pride of the local people take in their community” said Maggie who lives on Shirebrook Road. The festival also attracted lots of people from across the city, coming to Heeley for the festival and more. We like to think it shows the promise of a development like Sum, which will offer an incredible community resource from the end of next year and should be a pull for people across the city. Further proof, if it were needed, that Heeley is a great place to live and work and that Sum will be a great community asset which will see the area go from strength to strength.
